Chill Valley Animal Rescue - Farmed Animals & Roosters

Hello! Welcome to Chill Valley, the best (and only) little sanctuary in Tally Ho Township, NC. Our mission is to provide a permanent, compassionate sanctuary for farmed animals in need, ensuring they live happy, healthy and safe lives, free from harm and cruelty.

Our first focus is to care for unwanted and abandoned roosters. We are currently building a rooster home to begin housing feathered residents this year. We plan to expand to other animals in the near future. Check back often as we will be updating our progress regularly!

Glad you asked! Roosters face an uphill battle from the very beginning of their lives. Male chicks born in hatcheries are often killed shortly after birth as they do not produce eggs and have little "value". Those that make it to backyard flocks (usually because they were misidentified as hens) are often killed or abandoned. Compassionate owners are often unable to keep their roosters due to HOA restrictions or city ordinances. Each rooster in our care will have the chance to live out their natural life span, which could be ten years or more!
